These will advance the development of quantum technologies and enable their commercial use cases. The aim of this competition is to strengthen collaborative research and development (CR&D) through Canadian and UK partnerships towards commercialising quantum technologies. Your proposal must demonstrate co-development, have a high potential for commercialisation, address a technological challenge and include a plan for future exploitation.

UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £25 million for game-changing and commercially viable R&D innovation that can significantly impact the UK economy. This funding is from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation. The Innovate UK Smart grant funds a cross-sector portfolio of the best game-changing and world-leading projects. It offers funding where other opportunities are not available or appropriate, and where timing is key to ensure swift and successful commercialisation post-project completion.

UKRI Circular fashion programme

Key Features

The aim of this competition is to fund a research and development activity demonstrator. This will demonstrate new technologies, services, processes and business models capable of addressing the recycling and sorting challenges, as part of the UK’s fashion and textile sector and their direct supply chains. Your proposal must be for a multi-disciplinary, collaborative, demonstration project. Your project must support a demonstration of innovation at an industrially relevant scale, which will:
increase the proportion of postconsumer fashion and textiles that are retained in a closed loop system
increase the market value of processed post-consumer fashion and textiles
reduce the proportion of post-consumer fashion and textiles which is sent to landfill, destroyed or exported
develop and disseminate best practices in technologies, services, processes and business models to wider industry and policy makers

NATEP Helping SMEs innovate in aerospace

Key Features

UK registered SMEs can apply for a share of up to £2.5 million for industrial-led civil aerospace collaborative R&D projects. The aim of this competition is to help SMEs to develop their own innovative technologies. These should enhance their capabilities and increase their ability to win new business in the civil aerospace sector. Your project must have a credible route to market and preferably have identified your end users.

Circular Economy for SMEs - innovating with NICER

Key Features

This funding forms part of the UKRI National Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Research programme (NICER). The aim of this competition is to support feasibility studies, industrial research and experimental development projects that address the challenges of transitioning to a circular economy. Your proposal must demonstrate how you will create a step-change in the adoption of circular economy approaches.
